Saint Rose of Lima

I am getting ready to be officially confirmed with the Catholic Church, something that I am excited and proud of!! but part of my confirmation is that I can pick a saint to be my patron saint. as I looked, I briefly read over many saints, and with the brief descriptions I narrowed my choice down to three. With the three I read each story. When I read about Saint Rose of Lima, I thought that she would be the most fitting to be my saint!! but continued to read the other two to be sure of my pick. in the end I decided to go with Saint Rose of Lima. 

I continued to read more about her and surprisingly learned that she is the patroness of  the Philippines and the “New World”!  I thought that this is an awesome coincidence that my patron saint would also be the patron of my heritage! My mother came from the Philippines and I am very proud of that part of me. Other coincidences I noticed were that “Lima” is very close to my sons name “Liam”… The 23rd of August is her feast day, and my favorite number IS 23. but what got me to think that the coincidences were just too odd was when I was reading that many places are named Santa Rosa in America giving honor to this saint. William, the man I can not see the rest of my life without and the father of my son, is from Santa Rosa Beach, Florida where he grew up in the same house his whole life.

For me, to have quickly looked through many saints and chosen her based on brief summarization’s of these saints, then learn that I can link my life to Saint Rose of Lima in more than a couple of ways, I feel like she is speaking out to me helping me become more aware of the power of the Lord.

I feel blessed to be able to complete the three sacraments and am excited for tomorrows confirmation!

Being a mommy

being a mommy to an amazing, beautiful little boy is the biggest blessing i will ever receive in my life. i cant help but get excited every time i see him… when i pick him up from school, when i wake him up in the morning, or when i come home at the end of my work day. the first thing he does every time is clap his hands together and say, “yaaaayyy!” he just brightens my day, no matter how cloudy it could be.

i hope that every body can continues to be as greatful, simple, happy, loving, fearless, giggly, inquisitive, excited, humble, concerning, and open minded as a small child is.

Although Liam is only 15 months old and is learning and absorbing from me and his daddy… there is just as much that we can learn from him.

goals for 2010

this was not the plan. there ALWAYS should be a plan!.. plans are good. they’re set goals and aspirations. they are organized and

my plan was common… finish college, start a career, get married to the man i loved, and then have beautiful children. this was my goal from the day i started imagining myself in college. it makes sense! plans are made to reduse the stress of just letting things happen. if happened in this order, things like the excitement of living life school free could set in. starting a career and getting my feet planted would bring in the ability to live on my own and buy MY own new things, like furniture or kitchen appliances. getting married would give the allowed time together with the one person i absolutley loved and adjust to the new chapter in life. and finally, having children would be the final touch to a well orchistrated life!

this was my goal, until a few months ago.
